Maura and I headed to Aarhus, Denmark, to Maura's friend, Karin's wedding. First note - if you fly Ryaniar, please keep in mind that they actually are quite serious about getting to the airport at least 45 minutes before the flight. They are the "on time" airlines, and they refused to let us on. We had struggled through traffic on the way to Stanstead (worst airport to fly out of), and when we got there, we were too late. Bloody hell. So we had to

1. Pay £40 EACH to get on the next day's flight

2) Stay in a bed and breakfast and pay £65

3)Spend £20 on cabs to and from the B and B. Needless to say, neither of us was very happy.

We finally go to Aarhus and Karin met us at the airport. The first thing I noticed was how gorgeous all the Danish people are. Even at the airport where I looked like a chav, wearing tracksuit pants and a hat, they all looked gorgeous. How intimidating!!

Karin took us to this lovely little town called Ebeltoft.

Ebeltoft is one of the tourist centres of Denmark, due to the natural beauty of the area, its old town center with cobble stoned streets and half timbered houses centuries old and, not least, a large amount of beaches. Also, it is home to one of the world's first glass museums and the Fregatten Jylland, the longest wooden warship in the World.  We had a lovely little walk around town, and had lunch.

How cute is this place?

Here is something interesting. These are all bottles with rock candy inside them. You are meant to buy it and fill it with vodka, then the candy will melt creating a delicious vodka taste. You might even be able to drink the vodka straight out of the bottle.

Karin!! She is so crazy. She kept on begging me for more shots. I had to remind her that she was gettng married the next day. She was understandably a bit nervous. Alcohol doesn't help girl, Call AA!

The next day was the wedding. Karin seems to have recovered and looks amazing! The wedding was on the beach. After the ceremony on the beach, there was wedding cake and champagne. One of Karin's friend played music and we all just relaxed and enjoyed ourselves. It was beautiful.

Maura and Karin

The wedding was held in the garden of Karin's husband's aunt. The house was beautiful and everything was decorated and really looked lovely.

Here is the tent where the reception was held.

Danish weddings are interesting. First of all there was a Dolly Parton impersonator singing songs. She was great.  The next thing I found funny was that if the husband leaves the room, all the men at the reception have to go and kiss the bride. How funny! It works for the women too, so when Karin snuck off to the toilet, I snuck in a kiss to her husband Michael. He had lipstick all over his face!

The happy couple.....

All the trees had candles in them, creating a really soft look as the sun went down.

All in all, I love Danish weddings!! They rock!
